01 Carnival Ride - This song started with a fun little musical figure and a melody line that just tickled me pink. But the real trigger was the opening line; “I don’t know what you’re thinking, most of the time.” Opening lines are special. It’s important to grab the listener’s attention and draw him into the story. When I found the second line; “First you’re Dr Jekyll. Suddenly you’re Mr. Hyde,” I knew I was onto something. The whole concept of a “Carnival Ride” is a perfect metaphor for the crazy twists and turns that life takes us on.
